Abstract
This Act establishes the Pharmacy Council and Pharmacy Committee, defines their functions and powers, provides with respect to prescription and use of drugs for human being and animals and provides rules relative to the practice of pharmacist and the business relative to medicines in general. The Tanzania Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act is amended in section 21 with respect to wholesale and retail licence in food, cosmetics and veterinary medicines and veterinary devices and by repealing sections 24, 26, 27, 47, 48 and 74. The Council shall be a body corporate and shall, among other things: advise the Minister on matters relating to pharmacy practice; (b) safeguard and promote the provision of pharmaceutical services in compliance with norms and values, in both public and private sectors; (c) uphold and safeguard the acceptable standards of pharmacy practice in both public and private sectors; (d) register, enrol and list Pharmacists, Pharmaceutical Technicians and Pharmaceutical Assistants.
