Abstract
Regulations to prevent the spreading of water hyacinth (defined in reg. 2). No person shall import, plant or propagate water hyacinth in Tanzania (reg. 4). Importation for commercial purposes is permitted under regulation 12. The Regulations further impose a duty on private persons to destroy water hyacinth with prescribed biological control agents (First Schedule) and to report on occurrence or suspected occurrence of water hyacinth to the Plant Protection Inspector. Restrictions are also imposed on the movement of waters declared hyacinth infested areas under regulation 7 by the Director of Agricultural Development. The Second Schedule prescribes procedures for the destroying of water hyacinth which has been removed from water bodies. (14 regulations)
