Abstract
Section 3 imposes general restrictions as to the sale, importation and exportation of seed. Imported, exported of home-grown seed must conform with prescribed standards and is marked and packed in the prescribed manner. The Minister may make regulations, inter alia, for: Establishment of a certification agency to ensure the varietal purity of all foundation and certified seed produced in Tanganyika; (b) prescribing terms and conditions of seed crop inspections; (c) prescribing minimum standards of purity, germination, quality and disease for seeds; (d) prescribing the terms and conditions under which varieties of a kind may be certified;(e) exempting any seed from the operation of provisions of this Act or subsidiary legislation made thereunder (sect. 6). Section 8 outlines powers of inspectors appointed under section 7 by the Minister of Agriculture. (13 sections)
