Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute Act, 2016 (No. 10 of 2016).

This Act establishes the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) as a body corporate and provides with respect to its functions, powers, administration, etc. The Act also establishes the Agricultural Research Development Fund and provides for registration of agricultural research projects and service providers. A person shall not provide or carry out agricultural research service under this Act, unless that person is registered by the Institute as an agricultural research service provider.
The Institute shall be responsible for conducting, regulating and coordinating all agricultural research activities in the Mainland Tanzania. The third Schedule sets out agricultural research themes, including, among other things: land use and water management, agroforestry, environmental management and climate change resilience, biotechnology. The Research Institutes specified in the Second Schedule are hereby vested in the Institute and shall continue to be under the direct control and management of the Institute as centres. There shall be a National Agricultural Research Consultative Forum, which shall provide a platform for deliberation and discussions regarding challenges facing the national agricultural research system.
