Abstract
These Regulations implement provisions of the Tea Act. Both the Tea Board of Tanzania and the Tanzania Smallholder Tea Development Agency are established as corporate bodies by the Tea Act of 1997. The Board shall cause a register to be maintained of all land planted with tea and of owners, occupiers and managers thereof. These Regulations further provide for the registration of tea growers and tea factories in Part II. Part III contains rules relative to the buying of green leaf tea in the field. The licence for purchase of green tea shall be issued upon such terms and conditions as the Board may prescribe. Part IV is concerned with plant protection. Tea manufacturing, blending and packing is regulated in provisions of Part V. Inspectors appointed by the Tea Board may carry out such inspections as indicated in provisions of Part V. Part VII contains rules relative to sales contracts between growers and buyer. Such contracts shall be entered into for minimum one year and growers shall grant exclusive purchase rights to buyers. Regulation 21 concerns the use of agro-chemicals. Part VIII outlines marketing procedures.
