Abstract
The act establishes the Tropical Pesticides Research Institute, to conduct research and pesticides control. The Institute takes the form of a body corporate (sect. 3). The institute shall carry out and promote research in the field of pesticides application in the fields, inter alia, of: agricultural entomology, plant pathology, birds pests, rodents, tsetse and mosquito entomology, malacology, ticks, pesticides toxicology, botany and environmental pollution. A Plant Quarantine Station and a National Herbarium shall be established by the Institute. The control and management of the East African Tropical Pesticide Research Institute and the East African Pesticides Control Organization shall be vested in the new Institute.
