WaterWorks Regulations, 1997 (G.N. No. 371 of 1997).

Subject to section 3 of the Waterworks Ordinance, the Minister may designate and declare certain areas to become Water Supply and Sewerage Authority. The Authority so declared shall be an autonomous body or another entity listed in regulation 3. The declaration shall be in the form as set out in the First Schedule. The autonomous bodies shall be divided into three categories depending upon their financial independence (reg. 4). For each Authority a Board of Directors shall be established under regulation 5. The composition of the Board in outlined in regulation 6. The Board may advise the Minister on legislation, establish committees for purposes of the Authority, approve individual works, and approve alterations of water tariffs (reg. 7). The Chairman of the Board shall be appointed by the Minister after consultation with local authorities (reg. 9). The remaining provisions deal with decisional procedures of the Board, administration and finance and regulation making powers of the Board. (29 regulations)
