Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of 11 articles, aim at providing rules for the payment of rewards to (i) obtain reliable information that assists in the reduction of poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and disruption of illegal wildlife trade syndicates; (ii) increase public awareness and participation in wildlife conservation; (iii) recognize the contribution of informers; and (iv) obtain reliable information that facilitates the arrest of suspects, recovery of Government trophy and convictions. Information can be given orally or in writing to an authorized officer and the person who is eligible to receive a reward (i) shall apply to the Director of Wildlife for it (ii) shall be protected in accordance with the Whistleblower and Witness Protection Act.
The second Schedule attached to these Regulations lists the rates for payment of the rewards divided into the following (i) animals; (ii) birds; (iii) reptiles; (iv) amphibians; (v) insects; and (vi) snakes.
