Order No. 120 of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food validating the Regulation on the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise and the Regulations on State Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine subordinated to State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise is a state research institution authorized by the public administration. The Institute as a non-profit institution set up for laboratory diagnostics of animal diseases, laboratory tests of safety indicators and separate indicators of quality of objects of sanitary measures, by-products of animal origin, feed additives, premixes, forages, soil, potable water and drinking water for animals, plant protection products, environmental factors impacting human life, exercising harmful effect on public health, quality and independent examination of commodities, quality of seeds and planting material, others research tests according to the sphere of competence, as well as assessment thereof. State Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine shall perform the following tasks: (a) laboratory tests for the diagnosis of animal diseases, safety of food products, by-products of animal origin, feed additives, premixes, feed, soil, drinking water and water for animals, plant protection means, state of environment and its impact on human health; research; (b) prevention and diagnostics of infectious, invasive and non-contagious diseases of animals; and (c) organization and performance of planned and extraordinary diagnostic research.
