Resolution No. 1501-r of the Cabinet of Ministers validating the Strategy for the Development of Hydrometeorological Activities in Ukraine for the Period Until 2030.

The scope of the Strategy is to increase the efficiency of hydrometeorological activities, develop regional climate models taking into account global climate change, recommendations on the expected consequences, vulnerability and risks associated with this change in the short, medium and long term for the main socio-economic industries.
The solution of the identified problems is planned to be provided through implementation of the following strategic arrangements: (a) development of the observation system; (b) development of technologies for collecting, processing and distributing data on hydrometeorological observations, forecasting and hydrometeorological support; (c) modernization of the storage system of archival materials of hydrometeorological observations; (d) development of scientific research and scientific and methodological support; (e) hydrometeorological maintenance and support based on new technologies; (f) development and implementation of methods for assessing the economic effect of hydrometeorological activity; (g) interaction between subjects of relations in the field of hydrometeorological activity; and (h) ensuring the fulfillment of international obligations and international cooperation.
Indicators of achievement of strategic goals are: (a) providing users with high-quality hydrometeorological information; (b) early detection and identification of dangerous and spontaneous meteorological phenomena, increasing the reliability and timeliness of warnings about their occurrence, minimizing risks to the natural environment and the life of the population arising as a result of hydrometeorological processes; (c) modernization of equipment for hydrometeorological measurement; (d) total coverage of the national territory with radar information; (e) use of satellite information by the space observation system; and (f) development of pollution assessment and forecasting methods related to natural environment.
