Atomic Energy Regulations, 2012 (S.I. No. 4 of 2012).

These Regulations, made by the Atomic Energy Council under section 73 of the Atomic Energy Act, 2008: (a) specify the minimum requirements for the protection of individuals, society and environment from the dangers resulting from ionising radiation; (b) provide for the safety and security of radiation sources. They also concern management of radioactive wastes, discharge or release of radioactive substances to the environment, disposal of radioactive waste, transport of radioactive waste, waste storage, recycle and reuse of radioactive material and emergency interventions. Application for an authorization shall be accompanied by an environmental impact assessment. (114 regulations divided into 13 Parts and completed by 14 Schedules)
