Abstract
The Regulations govern the inspection and clearance of imported commodities into Uganda. These regulations mandate that all imported goods meet compulsory standard specifications set by the Bureau to ensure quality and safety. Imported commodities must be accompanied by a certificate of conformity or a certificate of roadworthiness, and those without such certificates are subject to destination inspection, which includes fees and possible corrective actions such as re-export, destruction, or reworking. The regulations also establish procedures for applying for import clearance certificates, with detailed documentation requirements and provisions for verification by standards inspectors. Commodities manufactured within East African Community (EAC) Partner States with valid certification are subject to relaxed inspection rules. The text consists of 20 Articles and 2 Schedules.
