Abstract
This Act establishes the Town and Country Planning Board and provides for establishment of District physical planning committees, Urban physical planning committees and Local physical planning committees. The Act also provides for approval, etc. of national and regional physical development plans and for authorization and control of development.
The Board shall, among other things, advise the government on all matters relating to physical planning and hear and determine appeals lodged by persons or local governments aggrieved by the decision of any physical planning committees. Where a development application relates to matters that require an environmental impact assessment to be carried out, the approving authority or physical planning committee may grant preliminary approval of the application subject to the applicant obtaining an environmental impact assessment certificate in accordance with the National Environment Act. A district physical planning committee shall ensure integration of social, economic and environmental plans into the physical development plans.
