Abstract
This Act shall give effect to the Government Policy for Public Enterprise Reform and Divestiture of 1991, and also to the Action Plan for Public Enterprise Reform and Divestiture. It provides for the reduction or elimination of Government equity holding in the public enterprises, the rehabilitation and restructuring of public enterprises and the promotion of good managerial practices of public enterprises and local entrepreneurship. A Divestiture and Reform Implementation Committee is established. Public enterprises to which this Act applies include the Cotton Development Organisation, the Uganda Coffee Development Authority, the Uganda Tea Authority, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation and the Uganda Fisheries Enterprises Ltd.
