Abstract
This Subpart of Part 216 of the Code of Federal Regulations (Regulations governing the taking and importing of marine mammals) concerns selected matters relative to the management and conservation of marine mammals on and around the Pribilof Islands. It, among other things, prescribes an annual period in which no person, except those authorised by a representative of the National Marine Fisheries Service, or accompanied by an authorised employee of the National Marine Fisheries Service, shall approach any fur seal rookery or hauling grounds; prohibits the landing of any dogs at Pribilof Islands; prohibits the importation of mammals or birds, except household cats, canaries and parakeets, to the Pribilof Islands without the permission of an authorised representative of the National Marine Fisheries Service; sets aside the Walrus and Otter Islands as bird reservations; provides with respect to the publication of local regulations; regulates wildlife research on the Pribilof Islands.
