Abstract
This Part 228, based on the provisions of Marine Mammals Protection Act of 1972, provides for establishing rules of practice and procedure for all hearings conducted pursuant to section 103(d) of the Act, and concerning the taking and importing of marine mammals incidental to commercial fishing operations. The Part contains: provisions on the publication of the notice of hearing; on the eventual environmental impact statement required; procedural matters concerning direct testimony; measures for inspection and copying of documents; procedure for conducting the hearing; cross-examination.
