Abstract
These Regulations, made under the Tuna Conventions Act, implement resolutions of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) for the conservation and management of stocks of highly migratory fish resources in the IATTC Convention Area as defined in these Regulations. They are issued under the authority of the Tuna Conventions Act of 1950 and apply to persons and vessels subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. Regulations make provision with respect to, among other things: keeping of logbooks and written records including reporting on shark encircling, the Vessel Register, requirements for inclusion of tuna purse seine vessels on the vessel register, process for removal from the Vessel Register. restrictions on the use of gear, bycatch reduction measures, vessel monitoring system.
