Abstract
This Subpart of Part 622 of the Code of Federal Regulations, among other things: sets out the purpose and scope of Part 622; gives definitions and acronyms for purposes of part 622 and; defines the relation of regulations contained in Part 622 to other laws and regulations. It also provides for some other matters of general interest to Part 622.
The purpose of Part 622 is to implement the Fisheries Management Plans prepared under the Magnuson-Stevens Act by the Caribbean Fishery Management Council (CFMC), Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (GMFMC), and/or South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (SAFMC) listed in Table. It governs conservation and management of species included in the FMPs in or from the Caribbean, Gulf, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, or Atlantic EEZ, unless otherwise specified, as indicated in Table 1 of this section. For the FMPs noted in the following table, conservation and management extends to adjoining state waters for the purposes of data collection and monitoring and selected importation of spiny lobster. This Subpart also contains general information about procedures related to permits and general requirements on recordkeeping and reporting, landing of fish, vessel identification and bag and possession limits. Other provisions concern catch quotas, fishing years and general prohibitions.
