Abstract
This Agreement creates a framework for cooperation between the Parties in the field of the protection of the environment. The Parties may enter, through their respective agencies, into implementing arrangements in the areas of control of air, soil and water pollution, control of toxic substances and pesticides, observation and monitoring of environmental quality, environmental emergencies, radiation exposure and monitoring, economic and administrative aspects of environmental protection, education, and other areas agreed by the Parties (art. II). The cooperation may take the form of joint programmes, exchange of information, conferences, exchange of experts, etc. (art. III). The Parties shall consult, at the request of either Party, on any matter within the scope of the Agreement and shall resolve disputes through negotiations between them (art. VI). (8 articles)
