Abstract
The U.S. Strategy toward Sub-Saharan Africa is a national sectoral strategy of the United States of America. Its main objectives are to (1) strengthen democratic institutions; (2) spur economic growth, trade, and investment; (3) advance peace and security; and (4) promote opportunity and development.
Among others, it aims to promote an enabling environment for trade and investment; improve economic governance; promote regional integration; expanding African capacity to effectively access and benefit from global markets; encourage U.S. companies to trade with and invest in Africa; address constraints to growth and promote poverty reduction; promote food security; transform Africa’s public health; increase opportunities for women and youth; respond to humanitarian crises while promoting resilience; and promote low-emissions growth and sustainable development, and build resilience to climate change.
