Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the interstate use of the Orto-Tokoi (Kasansay) reservoir in the Ala-Buka district of the Jalal-Abad region of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Parties acknowledge that the use of water resources, operation and maintenance of the Orto-Tokoi (Kasansay) reservoir in the Ala-Buka district of the Jalal-Abad region of the Kyrgyz Republic should be carried out in order to provide stable water supply to the population of the States of the Parties on a mutually beneficial, fair and reasonable basis. The Kyrgyz side ensures the safety of water facilities, operates, maintains and releases water from the Orto-Tokoi (Kasansay) reservoir within the limits of the current mutually recognized documents and regulations. The Uzbek side takes a share in financing the costs of operation and maintenance of the Orto-Tokoi (Kasansay) reservoir and other agreed actions proportional to the amount of water received. The costs are not subject to any requirements for the payment of any taxes and fees. In the event of emergencies at the Orto-Tokoi (Kasansay) reservoir caused by unexpected natural phenomena or technical reasons, the Kyrgyz side immediately notifies the Uzbek side. The parties take joint actions to prevent, mitigate and eliminate the consequences.
