Decision No. 20 of the State Committee for Nature Conservation validating the Regulation on Red Book.

The Red Book includes wild fauna species (vertebrates and invertebrates) living in natural freedom on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, permanently or temporarily, on land, in water, atmosphere or soil, as well as plants growing in the natural environment (aerial and underground plants), and also predatory animals, establishes a list of rare and endangered species (subspecies), specifies their status and information on measures for their protection. Actions that could lead to the destruction, reduction in the number of animal and plant species (subspecies) listed in the Red Book, or damage to their habitat shall be prohibited. The Red Book is the basis for the development and implementation of programs (action plans) aimed at the protection, conservation, restoration and reproduction of rare and endangered species (subspecies) of animals and plants included therein. The Red Book is managed by the State Committee for Nature Protection with the participation of the Academy of Sciences, the National University of Uzbekistan, and the Main Forestry Directorate under the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources. The Red Book is maintained electronically as a periodically updated database and is subsequently published as a popular science publication. The electronic form of the Red Book is posted on the official website of the State Committee for Nature Protection.
