Decree No. 51 of the Cabinet of Ministers validating “The National Program for the development of seed production and planting in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023-2026”.

“The National Program for the development of seed production and planting in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023-2026” establishes that the tasks for the implementation of the national program in the field of seed production and seedling cultivation, which envisages international cooperation and other activities, have been defined for improving the activities of the research institutes, strengthening the capacity of scientific institutions and seed farms. The parameters to be achieved as a result of the implementation of the National Program are contained in the Annex 2. The following shall be defined as the main priorities of the implementation of the National Program: (a) further development and improvement of activities of agricultural crop variety producers, research institutes; (b) exchange of foreign experiences in creating high-yielding varieties of agricultural crops, whose quality indicators meet the requirements of world standards, and creation of local varieties and F1 hybrids; (c) to further strengthen the capacity of research organizations and seed farms operating in this field; (d) strengthening cooperation with international organizations and attracting experts in the field of personnel training, retraining and improving their qualifications; (e) to increase the number of "in-vitro" laboratories and expand the scope of preparation of virus-free seedlings of local and foreign fruit and grape varieties; (f) improvement of the infrastructure for cultivation, preparation and delivery of seeds to consumers and development of the service delivery system; and (g) creation of a system for the production of agricultural seeds and seedlings of fruit trees to fully satisfy the domestic needs and to organize the export of quality seeds and seedlings. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall prepare scientific and innovative projects in cooperation with the Scientific Seed Center and the Pistachio Scientific Center in order to develop the primary seed production of agricultural crops and pistachio farming and submit them to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation for financing in accordance with the established procedure.
