Decree No. 649 of the Cabinet of Ministers validating the Regulation on the Agency of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This Regulation determines the status, main tasks, functions, rights, responsibilities, organization and reporting of the Agency of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the functional duties and responsibilities of its staff. The Agency is authorized state body in the field of extraction and conservation of material cultural heritage, museums and treasures of culture. The main tasks of the Agency shall be as follows: (a) establishment of protected areas, registration and control thereof; (b) expertise of cultural heritage; (c) certification and establishment of protection regime of historical and cultural areas, conservation of natural landscapes in their original state; (d) supply of relevant information and data for the inclusion of areas, sites and object in the Unified State Registration System; and (e) recommendations for the inclusion of historical sites in the World Heritage List, monitoring the implementation of the requirements of the Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage, the recommendations of UNESCO, the World Heritage Center, the World Heritage Committee.
