Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection validates phytosanitary requirements, determines the procedure for conducting pest risk analysis, declaration of pest-free and low-pest zones with the presence of harmful organisms and the abolition of the status of such zones; applies emergency measures in case of detection of a harmful organism, posing a potential danger to the national territory, or in case of reports of such detections, carries out supervision over the prevention of importation into the national territory of pests in regulated products, as well as planting material subject to quarantine inspection, the use of which can lead to significant economic damage and, in connection with this, establishes phytosanitary measures to be taken; and provides substantiation for applied phytosanitary measures (based on scientific principles and the results of phytosanitary analysis of risk and international standards for phytosanitary measures).
