Order No. 21 validating the Regulation on drafting, submittal and consideration of applications for registration of the name of origin of commodities and the right to use the name of origin of commodities.

This Regulation establishes the procedure for drafting, submittal and consideration of applications for registration of the name of origin of commodities and the right to use the name of origin of commodities. Appellation of origin of commodities shall be intended a country, locality, place or other geographical object, used to designate a product whose special characteristics are wholly or predominantly related to natural conditions specific to a given geographical object or other factors or natural conditions and name , determined by a combination of these factors. The designation registered as an appellation of origin of a product may be the modern name of a geographical object, the historical name of this object, or a name derived from them. A mark registered as an appellation of origin of a product may additionally indicate the type of product. Marks are registered as an appellation of origin of goods if their special characteristics are used to designate goods determined generally or predominantly by the natural conditions characteristic of this geographical area, or by other factors or natural conditions. The conditions and the totality of these factors are recorded, since the appellation of origin of the goods can be transferred. The characteristics of the product must be clearly defined in accordance with generally accepted technical terminology. The description must be in the form of information, in particular, it must indicate the availability of raw materials, relevant climatic, geological or other natural conditions and people (communities) who can prepare the product in the traditional way in a given geographical area.
