Resolution No. 791 of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to increase pomegranate cultivation and development of this sector in the Fergana region.”

The Cabinet of Ministers, with a view of organization of pomegranate farms in the Fergana region and assistance to representatives of the private sector engaged in this activity, carrying out scientific work together with research institutes, growing pomegranate seedlings and products based on innovative resource-saving technologies, comprehensive development of its processing, further increasing the export potential of the sector and for the purposes of increasing the level of employment and income of the population, especially in rural areas, creating a unified organizational system that provides a mechanism for creating new jobs, decrees as follows: (a) to set up the Pomegranate Growers Association in order to increase the volume of work and exports; and (b) to attribute to the Pomegranate Growers Association the tasks of development of the pomegranate sector, opening of association branches in all regions, creating specialized farms and assistance to private sector entrepreneurs engaged in this activity; efficient use of land, planting of pomegranate groves using resource-saving intensive technologies, gradual increase in its production, processing and export.
