Abstract
The Board may issue a notice to the persons or enterprises (i) in case of nuisance of noise to prohibit or restrict its occurrence or continuation, or (ii) in case of the requirement for the execution of such work. Noise control shall be carried out with respect to the desirability of social and cultural development, the traditions and norms of particular localities and of the society as a whole, the rights of privacy of family life, the rights of the disabled, elderly, youth, and sick people, and fundamental principle of respect for the rights of others. This Act sets forth provisions on the noise control in businesses and on construction sites, application for prior consent for work on construction sites, restriction on operating loudspeaker in public places and exceptional situations, designation of noise abatement zone, notice for the reduction of noise levels, reduction of noise caused by plant or machinery, promotion of good practices for minimizing noise, requirements of the notice, compliance with the notice, offences and penalties, and civil proceedings. The Minister may make regulations for the implementation of the provisions of this Act.
