Decision No. 277/2006/QD-TTg approving the national target program on rural clean water and environmental sanitation in the 2006-2010 period.

The main objectives of the national target program on rural clean water and environmental sanitation are to: prioritize the supply of hygienic daily-life water to densely populated areas; upgrade and expand existing facilities; seek stable water sources for areas stricken by exceptional difficulties; minimize environmental pollution in trade villages, and food and foodstuff processing villages.
The Decision sets out major solutions to be taken for the approval of the Program and provides for financial mechanisms and mobilization of investment resources necessary for carrying out the program. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shall assume the prime responsibility for the implementation of this Decision.
