Abstract
This Vietnamese government's Decision No. 50/2018/QĐ-TTg, issued by the Prime Minister, details Clause 4, Article 38 of the Law on Fisheries, regulating the main aquaculture species. It defines the key aquaculture species prioritized for national development: black tiger shrimp, white-leg shrimp, and pangasius. These species must meet criteria such as high productivity, job creation, climate adaptability, and export value. The Decision aims to promote large-scale, high-tech aquaculture zones and enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and provincial authorities are tasked with planning, managing, and reporting on the development of these species. Businesses involved in farming these species must register and are eligible for policy support and environmental data access.
