This Decision approves the national action program on “reducing green-house gas emissions through efforts to mitigate deforestation and forest degradation, sustainable management of forest resources, and conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks” (REDD+).
The program’s objectives are to: reduce green-house gas emissions through efforts to mitigate deforestation and forest degradation; increase the green-house absorbing capacity of forests; sustainably manage forest resources; preserve biodiversity; successfully implement the national strategy for climate change; and achieve hunger eradication and poverty reduction.
The Decision further provides for: core activities to be carried out during 2011-2020; solutions to complete the activities carried out; funds for the program implementation; establishment of a Steering Board for the REDD+ national action program; responsibilities of related ministries and agencies; etc.
