Decree No. 119/2006/ND-CP on organization and operation of the forest protection service.

This Decree provides for the organizational structure of forest protection agencies and for their tasks and powers. Tasks and powers shall include: advising and assisting the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister in performing the state management over forest protection and ensuring the observance of the forest protection and development law; organizing and directing professional operations and providing professional guidance; organizing and directing the inspection and handling of violations of the forest protection and development law; building up the forest protection force and providing professional training for forest protection personnel. Special-use Forest Protection Bureaus shall be set up to protect forest resources, fight against forest destruction, prevent and fight forest fires, and control pests in special-use forests or protected forests.
