Abstract
This Order provides for the management and organization of the Viet Nam Coast Guard with a view to increase the efficiency of State management and to maintain security in sea areas and on the continental shelf of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
The Viet Nam Coast Guard shall exercise its powers within the internal waters, territorial waters, seaport waters, contiguous zone, in the exclusive economic zone and on the continental shelf of Viet Nam in relation to the following matters: inspection and control according to the provisions of Vietnamese law and related international conventions; protection of natural resources; prevention and control of environmental pollution; detection, prevention and fight of smuggling, piracy, illegal transportation and trading of narcotics and humans; etc.
The Order further provides for the following matters: organization of the Viet Nam Coast Guard; state management of the Coast Guard; and benefits and policies for Viet Nam Coast Guard officers.
