Abstract
The present Ordinance provides for rules and obligations for the management, protection, conservation and research of gene sources; the protection, management, research, selection and recognition critieria of original and derived varieties, their quality, production and trading; the protection of rights of organizations both domestic and international and for individuals dealing with new plant varieties in terms of selection, creation and use of the aforesaid varieties and intellectual property. It regulates also the procedures to grant protection to plant varieties and organizations/individuals entitled to protection, and decrees also the suspension and cancellation of protection for those subjects. The Ordinance is divided in the following Chapters: I, General Provisions; II, Management and conservation of plant gene sources; III,research into, selection, creation, assay, recognition of, new plant varieties, evaluation, selection and recognition of maternal plants, initial plants, forest plant variety gardens, variety forests; IV, Protection of new plant varieties; V, Production, trading of plant varieties; VI, Management of the quality of plant varieties; VII, Inspection and settlements of disputes; VIII, Implementation provisions.
