Abstract
These Regulations provide for the conservation and regulation of fisheries in Vanuata waters and the issue of licences.
The text consists of 29 regulations divided into 6 Parts: Foreign Fishing Licences (I); Local Fishing Licences (II); Fish Export Processing Establishment Licences (III); Fish Conservation Measures (IV); Fish Aggregating Devices (V); Miscellaneous Provisions (VI).
All applications for foreign fishing licences shall be in the form set out in Part A of Schedule 1 (reg.1). Various general conditions attached to licences are specified in Regulation 4. Fish conservation measures are specified for the following species: Rock lobster (reg. 13); slipper lobster (reg. 14); coconut crab (reg. 15); green snail (reg. 16); trochus (reg. 17); trumpet shell (reg. 18); coral (reg. 19); aquarium fish (reg. 20); turtles (reg. 21); crustaceans (reg. 22); bêche-de-mer (reg. 23). Regulations 13 to 21 prohibit or restrict the taking, having in possession, sell or export these animals; regulations 22 and 23 prescribe written permission for exportation to be issued by the Minister.
