Abstract
This Act amends the Forestry Rights Registration and Timber Harvest Guarantee Act in subsection 12(1) by inserting after “operations” insert “and in relation to purchasing or trading of sandalwood and the processing and exporting of sandalwood, sandalwood oil or any sandalwood product derived from harvesting operations” and by adding at the end of section 15 “(5) The owner of the accredited timber plantation must report to the Director General on the following matters: (a) the amount of timber that is harvested; and (b) the amount of sandalwood harvested, traded, processed or exported.”. Section 12 defines the operations that are subject to forestry legislation. Section 15 specifies conditions of accreditation of a timber plantation or proposed timber plantation.
