National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2026-2030.

Vanuatu’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) 2026–2030 establishes the country’s updated policy framework for biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and equitable benefit‑sharing, aligned with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The plan outlines five strategic areas—ecosystem and species conservation, sustainable management and benefit‑sharing, biodiversity mainstreaming, resource mobilization, and environmental governance—supported by traditional knowledge, community participation, and cross‑sectoral integration. It commits Vanuatu to protecting 30% of terrestrial and marine areas by 2030 and addresses major threats such as invasive species, habitat loss, overexploitation, and climate change. The NBSAP includes national and provincial implementation plans, links to the National Sustainable Development Plan, and provides mechanisms for monitoring, financing, and coordination across government, civil society, and customary authorities.
