Abstract
The Vanuatu National Industrial Development Strategy (NIDS) 2018–2022 aims to strengthen industrial development and value addition in Vanuatu by leveraging advantages in agribusiness (coconut, cocoa, coffee, kava, tamanu, fish) and services (tourism, niche financial services), while addressing constraints such as small market size, remoteness, infrastructure gaps, limited skills, and low manufacturing value added. The strategy sets a vision to compete in niche, high-quality markets sustainably and inclusively through nine programmes and 35 projects to unlock Vanuatu’s full value-adding potential. Implementation of the strategy will be led by a newly established Industrial Development Council, bringing together government and business leaders to monitor progress and guide future direction.
