Abstract
The document outlines Vanuatu’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and its Implementation Roadmap, addressing mitigation and adaptation priorities, objectives, and the roadmap’s scope. It assesses the business-as-usual (BAU) electricity demand, identifies gaps, and presents renewable energy projects, including hydro, solar, wind, coconut oil, and geothermal initiatives. The NDC Implementation Roadmap aims to guide Vanuatu in achieving its climate mitigation target by outlining actions that contribute to its Nationally Determined Contribution. It provides a pathway of interventions to drive emission reductions and transform the electricity sector, while also identifying regulatory changes and financing strategies. Additionally, it supports stakeholder awareness and establishes a framework for monitoring progress toward achieving nearly 100% renewable energy in the electricity sector by 2030.
