Abstract
This Act establishes the Vanuatu Agricultural Research and Technical Centre as a body corporate. The principal function of the Centre is to carry out scientific research and development for assisting the agricultural, livestock, forestry and fisheries industries. There shall be a Chief Executive of the Centre and a Board of the Centre is established under section 17. The Board shall direct the centre and guide the Chief Executive. The Board is to establish the Scientific Advisory Council which shall give advice to the Board on particular matters or classes of matters relating to the functions of the Centre (sect 24). The Board shall prepare strategic plans and annual operational plans (sects. 25 and 26). When a strategic plan or an annual operational plan is in effect, the Centre must perform its functions in accordance with that plan.
