Abstract
The Vanuatu National Nutrition Policy & Strategic Plan 2016–2020 provides a multisectoral framework to improve the nutrition and health of Vanuatu by addressing the “double burden” of malnutrition—undernutrition alongside rising overweight, obesity, and diet-related non-communicable diseases. Aligned with international and regional guidance and national development instruments, the policy sets a goal, vision, mission, and seven strategic objectives: strengthen nutrition governance and coordination; improve delivery and coverage of quality nutrition services; prevent and control overweight, obesity, and Non-communicable Disease (NCDs); prevent and treat undernutrition and support infant and young child feeding (IYCF); prevent and control micronutrient deficiencies; promote national and household food security; and strengthen nutrition surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation. Implementation arrangements specify responsibilities for the Ministry of Health, Vanuatu National Nutrition Committee, and provincial health offices.
