Abstract
This roadmap will function as a strategic guiding tool to help the Fisheries Department set annual work plans and monitor progress toward strengthening service provision and response to needs in the coastal fisheries sector. The roadmap sets out a vision for coastal fisheries in Vanuatu to “secure sustainable coastal fisheries, underpinned by community-based approaches to ensure the resilience and well-being of our people” by 2030. The text provides for the threats to coastal resources, challenges to sustainable management and development of coastal fisheries. The four overarching outcomes designed by the roadmap are resilient communities; effective resource governance; productive and healthy coastal system; and happy, healthy and prosperous people. The text further outlines the focal actions areas and strategic milestones.
