Abstract
This Act provides rules for the issue of business licences for any activity aimed at generating revenue in trade, commerce or industry. It also provides for the use of such licences and related matters. No person shall commence or carry on any business or economic activity whether jointly with any other business or economic activity, or otherwise, unless he or she has for that business or calling a current licence issued under this Act. The Commissioner shall maintain a register of licences issued under this Act. The Head of State, acting on the advice of Cabinet, may make all such Regulations as may in the Head of State’s opinion be necessary or expedient for giving full effect to the provisions of this Act. No person shall commence or carry on any business or economic activity which involves any of the activities specified in the Schedule. Such activities include nuclear and toxic waste disposal or storage and processing and export of endangered species. Regulations may prescribe conditions that must exist for a licence to be valid including: requirements as to sanitary conveniences and water supply; and requirements in regard to the cleanliness of the premises, etc. used for storage and display of food for human consumption.
