Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to enhance the performance and accountability of public bodies so that they provide the best possible service for the people of Samoa and as a result contribute to Samoa’s social, cultural, economic and commercial development. The Act provides rules for the functioning of various bodies, operating for commercial or beneficial purposes. These bodies include the Agriculture Store Corporation, the Development Bank of Samoa, the Samoa Land Corporation, the Samoa Ports Authority, and the Samoa Water Authority. The Act defines objectives of bodies, regulates the participation of ministries in state companies and provides with respect to the administration of bodies to which this Act applies.

An Act to promote improved performance and accountability in respect of Public Bodies and, to this end, to: (a) specify principles governing the operation of Public Bodies; and (b) specify the principles and procedure for the appointment of Directors of Public Bodies; and (c) establish requirements concerning accountability for Public Bodies; and (d) provide support for Shareholding Ministers on matters relating to Public Bodies.
