Cabinet Resolution No.517 of 2013 issuing the Implementing Regulation of Law No. 7 of 2011on the Plant Quarantine.

This Regulation consisting of 43 articles divided in IV Chapters specifies the competencies of the General Directorate of Plant Protection at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. In particular it is responsible for constituting the Plant Health Committee in charge for evaluating plans relating to the implementation of plant quarantine; proposing projects to regulate plant quarantine decisions; studying topics related to contingencies; reviewing lists of plant pests and proposing any necessary variations based on results of the surveys from the quarantine stations in the various provinces.
The Regulation covers provisions on issuance of import permits, together with documents and certificates that must accompany the shipments at the entry. Article 13 specifies special rules and conditions for potato seeds imported for the purpose of agriculture and/or plant production. Specific measures are indicated also for palms and bananas.
