Law No. 24 of 2013 concerning the Maritime Chamber.

This Law, comprising 52 articles, aims at establishing the Yemeni Maritime Chamber aiming to support and develop maritime transport and related services by (i) providing assistance to ships, passengers, and cargo; (ii) promoting cooperation among maritime stakeholders; (iii) improving the professional capacity of its members and staff; (iv) coordinating members’ efforts; and (v) contributing to the enhancement of port services and the overall efficiency and quality of maritime activities in Yemen. Its functions include supporting maritime sector development through policy recommendations, data collection and dissemination, stakeholder coordination, representation in relevant forums, registration and certification of maritime businesses, promotion of quality and competitiveness, cooperation with national and international maritime bodies, and provision of expertise and information. It may also facilitate the settlement of maritime transport disputes through conciliation or arbitration committees.The Chamber is governed by a Board responsible for managing its affairs, implementing its objectives, supervising the executive administration, approving plans, budgets, reports, and internal regulations, preparing General Assembly meetings, and appointing the Director General.
