Abstract
This Decree establishes the General Authority for Rural Electricity which aims to implement the rural electrification policy by supplying the electric energy to the rural areas; to channel available funds towards acceptable projects and act as a project regulator for the supervision and monitoring of Rural Electrification Policy Statement.
The Decree is composed of 5 Chapters divided into 24 articles: Definitions (1); Objectives, functions and powers (2); Administration (3); Authority resources (4); Final Provisions (5).
Chapter 3, in its two Sections, indicates composition, duties and powers of the Board of directors and the Executive director.

This Decree enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Notes
Article 23 of this Decree repeals Presidential Decree No. (55) of 2001, annexing the rural electricity sector to the Public Electricity Corporation.
