Republican Resolution No.160 of 2008 regulating the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.

This Regulation consisting of 37 articles divided in IV Chapters aims at the development and proper utilization of agricultural resources and capacity of the State to meet the needs of citizens and the national economy through the organization of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. It indicates: (i) the tasks of the Ministry, in particular relating to policies preparation, research in agricultural and livestock fields aiming at improving standards of production (also encouraging plans aiming at land reclamation and increment of the agricultural area in the total area of the State), enabling the good use of genetic resources, quarantine measures, market and storage rules, forestry and pasture, use regulation and maintenance of irrigation systems, rural development plans; (ii) the tasks of the representatives of the Ministry under the supervision of the Minister; (iii) composition and powers of the Board of Directors; (iv) the organizational structure of the Ministry; (v) tasks and functions of the different public administrations, divided in: Agricultural production development, Agricultural services, Irrigation and agricultural land reclamation, and other support departments.
