Abstract
These Notices contain lists of alien and invasive species, published in terms of sections 66 (1), 67 (1), 70 (1)(a), 71 (3) and 71A of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, no. 10 of 2004, and made in compliance with the Alien and Invasive Species Regulations. The Notices cover the following terms: catchment; watercourse; cultivated land; untransformed land, as land in its natural state, used for natural grazing, degraded by factors such as soil erosion, over-grazing, over-burning, flooding, invasive species.
The Notices concern: list of alien species exempted from the provisions of the Act; list of activities, involving plant and animal species, restricted or prohibited in terms of the provisions of the Act, including: introduction and import of new invasive species from the sea; selling, trading and disposing in any way, of any specimen of a listed invasive species; transferring of a specimen of a listed invasive fresh-water species from one discrete catchment system to another; disposing into any waterway or the ocean, water from an aquarium, tank or other receptacle that has been used to keep a specimen of an alien or a listed invasive species; catch and release of a specimen of a listed invasive fresh-water fish or listed invasive fresh-water invertebrate species.
The Notices contain eleven lists of invasive and alien species, including: terrestrial and fresh-water plant species; marine plant species; mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian species; fresh-water fish species; marine fish species; terrestrial invertebrate species; fresh-water invertebrate species; marine invertebrate species; microbial species.
