Abstract
These Regulations provide for the control of beekeeping in South Africa. They require beekeepers to register each year with the Department. All bee-hives shall be marked to display clearly and legibly the registration number allocated to the beekeeper. Beekeepers shall mark his or her beehives with the registration number and keep records as prescribed and no person shall place any unregistered beehives on any property without a written authority. Upon request, scientific research institutions involved in apicultural research may be exempted from the provisions of control measures. The Regulations also provide for the control of a specified disease affecting colonies of honey-bees.
